During severe spring and summer weather events across Northern New Jersey, trained SKYWARN storm spotters deploy along major transit corridors to track supercell thunderstorms and flash flooding.
Equipped with mobile VHF/UHF transceivers and weather radar displays, spotters report cloud structures, hail size, and wind damage to net control stations for immediate relay to NWS forecast offices.
These ground-truth visual reports play a critical role in timely warning generation for densely populated NNJ communities.
